Here we are again at night
It doesn't matter that it never feels right
Playing an ancient game
We play it before just to play it again
All I have to do to win
Is meet her eyes for that length of time
Its not a sin there is no crime
She looks away
Part of the play
But no is not the word today
As we come together the animal way
Stifled sweat oppressive heat
Limbs thrash lips part writhe and meet
In frenzied dance we never see
That even close entwined as one
We're worlds apart you and me
And when its over dead and gone
We never smile and seldom weep
I do not lie
She never asks why
And we both of us dream our lonely sleep
For we both understand
This selfish greed
The need to sate
Our mutual need
That makes us hate
And makes us bleed
Here we are another night
Playing our games that never feel right
There is no winner nothing to gain
Just keep using each other but I have changed
She looks at me with hungry eyes
I stare back sadly I've grown old and wise
All the time lost to destructive desire
The ideal of love burned away in the fire
She tries one last time to make the stare
A pitiable act for we neither of us care
I look away
Too sad to play
Can't live like this every day
Don't want to carry on this way
If we'd only smiled just once in a while
